Ludian works with RTC of Southern Nevada, City of Henderson, and Clark County to Deliver Adaptive Solution
Contracted by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) and partnered with the City of Henderson and Clark County, Ludian is the adaptive traffic systems expert enabling the implementation of the solution to Nevada.
The pilot, which officially started in October, is being run across 14 intersections along Eastern Avenue. Eastern has long been considered as a host for this technology due to its high volumes and mixed land use ranging from hospitals and schools, to busy shopping as well as residential areas.
Instead of using traditionally timed traffic signals, adaptive signal control technology (ASCT) uses the latest algorithms to enable traffic signals to become more efficient and improve performance metrics, potentially resulting in:
- – reduced traffic delays and congestion
- – improved travel time reliability
- – decreased vehicle emissions
- – improved safety
Unlike traditionally timed traffic signals, signals with this technology reacts to changing traffic conditions caused by special events, road construction, and other roadway incidents to provide the best solutions to traffic signal phasing based on real time.
The pilot will go through March 2021.
